内容記述タイプ Abstract
内容記述 Marathon running enthusiasts are susceptible to anemia, necessitating careful consideration of their energy levels and nutrient intake. Despite the heightened risk of anemia among recreational marathoners, scant attention has been paid to the correlation between anemia and dietary habits within this demographic. The purpose of this study was to investigate the association between iron status and nutrient and food group intake among recreational marathon runners striving to improve their performance. Eighteen male recreational runners (40.7±12.4 years) actively pursuing record improvements participated in this research. Physical measurements, questionnaire surveys, non-invasive hemoglobin measurements, and food intake frequency surveys were conducted. Participants were categorized into two groups based on the stand value hemoglobin levels (13.0 g/dl). Those whose values were above the standard value were placed in the N-Hb group (14 participants), and those whose values were below the standard value were placed in the L-Hb group (4 participants). The results of the survey showed that the L-Hb group had a significantly lower intake of nutrients such as iodine, vitamin D, and vitamin B12. The survey also shows that the diet of the L-Hb group has statistically lower seaweed and seafood items than the N-Hb group. In conclusion, consuming seaweed and seafood, which contain nutrients such as iodine, vitamin D, and vitamin B12 may prevent low hemoglobin levels in recreational runners.
