However, the use of BDF increases NOX emission from diesel engines, though the generation of PM (Particulate Matters) is controlled by the oxygen content in the BDF. On the other hand, emulsified fuel, emulsion of water in light oil, has been expected to have an effect on the simultaneous reduction of those emission gases, but its use has not spread. In this paper, the BDF and emulsified fuel are applied to a diesel engine for the purpose of reducing emissions by the fuel which is usable without remodeling the engine, and the exhaust gas characteristic has been examined.
