At present, there is a demand for a method to visualize radiation easily in radiation cancer treatment. In this study, K I (potassium iodide) was added to a partially saponified PVA (polyvinyl alcohol, hereinafter referred to as PVA) aqueous solution to develop a gelled PVA-KI gel dosimeter. PVA-KI gels are low cost, easy to make, and reusable, such as being able to re-transparent those that have been colored red by radiation when heated, which are not found in other gel dosimeters.
