Since things are located in various environments including outdoors and rural as well as mountainous areas, a network employed in IoT cannot depend on commercially available power supply. Low power battery operation and wireless communication covering wide area are key requirements. A network that satisfies these requirements is called LPWA (Low-Power Wide-Area), where multiple specifications are proposed. Among them LoRaWAN is one of the most promising technologies and its deployment is expanding rapidly. As LoRaWAN employs Chirp Spread Spectrum for its Physical layer, there are a number of parameters and their tradeoffs.
